Brioche French Toast

Brioche French Toast with Strawberry Compote

Inspired by our recent visit to Butchers Union last week where the Blueberry French toast was out of this world, I wondered how I could FillaUp that recipe here at home. This is what we came up with! Enjoy

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of Brioche

  • 1 egg

  • 1/8 cup of Half and Half

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon frozen orange juice concentrate or 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Fresh Grated Nutmeg

  • Butter

  • Cinnamon Sugar mix

Step 1: Start with the best Brioche bread you can find. We use the Trader Joe’s Brand.

Step 2: Whisk together egg, cream, vanilla, orange juice, cinnamon, & nutmeg.

Step 3: Melt butter in a Non Stick skillet

Step 4: Dip bread in egg mix and cook in skillet for 3 - 4 minutes per side. Watch carefully that it doesn’t burn. Flip when lightly browned.

Step 5: Before you flip the French Toast, liberally coat the bread with the Cinnamon Sugar Mix

Step 6: Flip and then sprinkle the second side with the Cinnamon Sugar mix as well. Flip one more time to so you get a bit of a crunchy coating on both sides from the sugar coating

Serve with Powder Sugar, Maple Syrup, Butter, Strawberry Compote
