Brothers And Sisters of Charity

The Brothers and Sisters of Charity is a Public association of the faithful located near Eureka Springs, Arkansas at the Little Portion Monastery.
BSC was founded in 1988 by author, musician, and public speaker, John Michael Talbot. He and his wife Viola Talbot are the Spiritual Father and Mother of this spiritual family consisting of over 250 members both monastic and domestic.
“The rule of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity
is the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We should be troubled about nothing except this all encompassing rule.
All that matters is that one be created anew”
The Brothers and Sisters of Charity is an Integrated Community
We integrate monastic life with domestic life
We integrate charismatic spirituality with contemplation
We integrate apostolic service with a life of prayer and study
We integrate various calls in life: from celibate monastic life, to clergy both Priest and Deacons, to those that are married and those that are single.
We integrate the evangelical counsels according to ones state in life: Poverty, Chastity and Obedience
We integrate all religions, from a uniquely Christian base
We integrate all Christian faiths from a uniquely Catholic base
We integrate all religious and monastic traditions from a uniquely Franciscan base.
Our primary charism is love and our primary task is to prayerfully worship God
The Domestic expression of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity
The Brothers and Sisters of Charity make permanent professions and lifelong covenant promises. The primary covenant promises of charity are as follows:
Poverty: To live a life of apostolic poverty so others might know the wealth of the King of kings.
Chastity: To live a life of chastity so others might be wed to the Divine Lover.
Obedience: To live a life as bondservants to the King in obedience so others might know the freedom of co-heirs to his kingdom and the divine authority of Him who first humanly obeyed.
“Little Portion Monastery is the most joyful place on earth”
