The Grand Rapids Symphony

Grand Rapids has so much to offer when it comes to having a wonderful night out with friends, family or that special someone in your life. You don’t have to go far to have a “perfect” date night. Anneleisa and I love our date nights at the Grand Rapids Symphony. The caliber of musicians, our conductors or guest conductors and touring artists are world class and critically acclaimed. We are blessed to have such a wonderful, musical, cultural opportunity in our backyard. Each season the Symphony invites us to be immersed in music from all eras and from around the world. We recently enjoyed a night of Jazz and Ragtime with Byron Stripling. The Symphony musicians are really the best kind of people. We have had the opportunity to get to know two of them quite well over the years and want to give a shout out to Caroline Freihofer, violinist and Kristen Shoup, violist - both of whom taught our daughters throughout the years. In fact, our daughters played in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony under the direction of John Varineau, Associate Conductor of the GRS,  which is another example of the impact this organization has on our community and especially our youth.
